Database Service for Tandem Systems

Our database service consists of a detailed file system analysis from Measure, SQL catalogs, Tandem Reload Analzyer (TRA), Fileinfo listings, DSAP and a complete file system exploration. A detailed written report is then produced from these statistics, with charts graphs and lists highlighting the database findings, followed by a prioritized list of “action items” to be address to eliminate database issues and plan ahead for future growth.

Potential recommendations may include…

Moving files or partitions to other disks.
Repartitioning, splitting, or re-balancing certain files.
Increasing available cache for some or all disks via SCF or PUP.
Altering file attributes such as audited, buffered, dcompress, and others.
FUP Reloading certain files, and/or automating reloads with AutoDBA.
Modifying the extent sizes and/or maxextents allowed for certain files.
Using SMF to increase partitioning and distribute I/O without modifying environmental settings.
Purchasing additional memory and/or physical disks.
Modifying certain programs and/or SQL statements to be more efficient.
Altering SQL catalog placement, usage, and/or quantity.
